9 August 2023 20:26![]() ☄ First Impressions ♚ VISUAL: Stella is a teenager on the shorter side, (5'2"), and physically somewhat lean. She has dark skin, soft brown eyes, orange-reddish hair, and a smattering of freckles on her face. ♚ FASHION: Stella most commonly wears an outfit consisting of a poofy yellow-sleeved shirt and high-waist pants with green slip-on shoes. She has a large green hat with a star-shaped brim, and her Everlight that sits on her belt. ♚ DEMEANOUR: Stella is a shining star of empathy. Loving and kind, with a heart as big as her hat - albeit with somewhat of a childish nature, she shines like a star when she steps into a room. Though she is not without her own struggles, she knows that life is made better by the people she meets and befriends in it. ♚ SOUND: Stella sounds fairly young and chipper, but she can speak with plenty of authority when she wants to. Don't let her playful tone fool you, she can get mean when she's mad enough. ♚ SCENT: Clean. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Stella's all-around mentally healthy. Though not much more than any other average human. ♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: All of Stella's abilities are tied to her Everlight. ☄ OOC ♚ BACKTAGGING: I will honestly backtag into forever if you wish to do the same. Although I might have to drop some in the event that I'm falling behind. ♚ FOURTHWALLING: Nah, that's not for Stella. ♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Stella loves physical affection, and she's very good with hugs. Even if you're a stranger, she'd welcome the kindness! ♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Stella doesn't go looking for fights, but that doesn't mean she won't put her foot down if someone is causing trouble. Expect her to be very disappointed if she has to step in. ♚ RELATIONSHIPS: Romance isn't on Stella's mind. WARNING: The nature of Stella's job might bring up uncomfortable topics like death, sense of self, and topics related to mental health/illness. Please let me know if you don't want to interact with any of that. |

THIS APP CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SPIRITFARER (naturally)
CHARACTER
Name: Stella
True Name: Stella
Canon: Spiritfarer (The ending)
Age: Physically 15/16 ish. In reality late forties.
History: Unfortunately the wiki is lacking in a lot of things. SO....
- Born in 1973, it's not really known where Stella WAS born, but she was raised in northeastern France with her mother, father, sister, and Uncle Atul.
- Grew up with her sister, Lily, and friend Gwen, the daughter of a dysfunctional aristocratic family, during visits to Alsace. Alongside Astrid and Giovanni, two older folk who became substitute grandparents to Stella in her teens, as she never knew her own.
- At some point, in her early twenties, Atul disappeared and Stella never saw him again. This heartache, among some other things, was what convinced Stella and her family to move across the Atlantic ocean, settling in North America.
- Emancipated in her early adulthood, Stella took to traveling the world for some time, taking special pleasure in visiting Shirakawa-gō Japan. Eventually, she would return home, learn of her father's passing, and move out on her own, settling in an apartment in Montreal, Québec with the family cat, Daffodil.
- While there, she was taught by her aunt, Summer, the wife of her late aunt Rose, about the values of life. As she succumbed to her cancer, Summer inspired Stella to become a nurse.
- As part of her education, Stella was required to do an mandatory internship in the psychiatric ward of a somewhat derelict hospital. There, she met another nurse, Jackie, who helped her along and taught her everything he knew, including how to be a little rebellious.
- At one point, Stella started to notice Jackie slacking on his duties, and his slowly developing issues. Which culminated in a career-ending accident with Daria, one of their patients, who Stella was assigned to as a primary caregiver afterwards.
- Stella took Jackie in, letting him sleep on her couch and tried to help him recover. He died in a car accident soon after.
- Stella continued to work with patients, becoming a registered palliative nurse. Her patients included elderly neighbors Alice and Beverly, eight-year-old Stanley, former patient Daria, and her own grandparent figures, Astrid and Giovanni.
- Reached out to Gwen again in their early forties, preventing her from committing suicide, but later died of lung cancer from smoking, with Stella remaining by her side.
- Stella learned a few years later that she was dying of cancer. Leading her to have anxiety-riddled dreams, and eventually moving back to her family in Montreal to spend time together.
- In her final days, bedridden and frail, Stella's dreams reach the Spiritifarer realm, creating a world based around Stella's memories, wherein she is given the role of newest Spiritfarer from Charon, the former one.
- In a younger, healthier body, she sails this realm, picking up the spirits of her friends and family, interacting with them again, and seeing them off to better come to terms with her own fear of death.
- Throughout her job, she has run-ins with Hades, who gently guides her through her memories, asking her why she's doing this, and bringing her to the conclusion that she is dying.
- Near the end, her sister Lily reaches through the realms, speaking to Stella at her bedside, going over their lives and reading from old family scrapbooks.
- With her work done, resolute that Lily and her mother are holding her hands somewhere, Stella enters the Everdoor with Daffodil. Becoming a constellation together that joins all the other departed spirits.
Powers/Abilities: Stella's powers are largely tied to the Everlight, a small orb of glowing light that sits on Stella's belt. Imagine a ball of hardlight that Stella can will to form almost anything she needs - though that mostly means tools like saws, hammers, and farming implements. Basically whatever you'd need for a resource management game. Stella can also harness it's basic power to allow her to double jump, dash, and create bursts of light.
The Everlight itself also renders Stella impervious to all forms of damage. While this isn't technically immortality, I understand if it needs to be removed or nerfed.
Personally for Stella, she can glide with her oversized hat.
Inventory: The clothes on her back and the Everlight. Some small trinkets included like an old lighter and a plastic lemon.
Job History: - Internship as a nurse in a psychiatric ward, required to see to patients needs and generally keeping the place running. Became a primary caregiver to a specific patient following a fallout with her coworker. Went behind the hospital's back to help improve the patient's wellbeing. Acts as mandatory training for her later job, so skills are applicable to both.
- Palliative care nurse, required to see to any of the patient's needs as an end-of-life care specialist. Made sure that the patients were content up to their final moments, providing basic and specialized medical care where it was needed, and generally providing comfort to the patients and others involved in their lives to make the passing easier.
- Spiritfarer, replacing the former Spiritfarer, Charon. Responsibilities include captaining her own ship, growing and harvesting food, wood, and other materials, with which she expands her ship further to increase space for living quarters. Spirits are found and guided to the boat, where Stella manages their needs - cooking, cleaning, fishing - until they decide they are ready to go. Wherein Stella brings the Spirit to the Everdoor and sees them off. This includes Stella herself.
Suppressions:
1. For all her incredible empathy for others, Stella sometimes lashes out at others for the sake of those she is empathizing with, such as crying for Gwen when her father died or getting angry on someone's behalf. This is, generally, not something Stella tries to repress.
2. Stella's fear of death is hypothesized to be what drove her into palliative care. She does genuinely love what she does, and the care she can provide to others, but Hades brings up that she may be using it to give herself a greater understanding of death for when it comes for her. Or, alternatively, help bring her peace of mind as she's on her deathbed. Considering she basically just attempted to pass on, that will hang on her even as she's helping others.
3. She tries very hard not to hold grudges against others. Stella's been slighted before, both by family and co-workers, but she remains as forgiving and friendly as ever. It takes more effort than it looks for her to be such a kind person.
Greatest Fear: Being alone.
Greatest Desire: To help others as much as she can.
Greatest Regret: Never finding out what became of her uncle. Alternatively, the amount of people she was unable to prevent suffering.
